About Tulare Adult School
Year Established: 1928
Number of Students: 4000

Our Facilities
Tulare Adult School began in 1928, as a film lecture series for adults, authorized through the Tulare High School District. In 1949, the adult school began offering evening vocational programs. During the 1966-1967 school year, Tulare Adult School day classes were scheduled, including academic classes in high school diploma and GED preparation (ASE), and adult basic education (ABE). After years of sharing space at the high school and renting in churches and strip malls, Tulare Adult School moved into its own building in 1987. The main campus has twelve classrooms, three of which are used by the Tulare County Department of Education HeadStart Childcare program. The main campus classes include ESL, GED, high school diploma, and computer business education. In October 2002, TAS purchased the Town Center Plaza on K Street, formerly the Safeway Supermarket building that had been converted to several smaller retail shops. Prior to that time, TAS rented one classroom in the building for a retail sales class.
