California Adult Schools unite to survive economic crisis.

Ready for Kindergarten at Petaluma Adult School

The California School Board has awarded Petaluma City Schools a Golden Bell Award for its successful Ready for Kindergarten program—a bilingual parent education program offered through the Petaluma Adult School.

In 2002, Martha De Hoban Fernandez came to Bakersfield Adult School, a recent immigrant from Columbia. Martha had begun her studies in her home country and she enrolled in the Bakersfield High School Diploma program.

GED Success

Daniela Amezquita first came to Sweetwater Adult Education in 2004. She completed the school’s orientation in December 2004, and was placed in an Adult Basic Education class. She went on to earn her GED and graduated from the program in November 2005.
